[edit]From Ottoman Turkish سماور (semaver), from Russian самова́р (samovár, “self-boiler”); from само́ (samó, “self”) + вари́ть (varítʹ, “to boil; to cook”).
Apparently mediated or influenced by Persian سماور (samâvar, “samovar”).
