[edit]Borrowed from Ottoman Turkish سائس (“seyis”), from Arabic سَائِس m (sāʔis, “stableman, groom”).
Cognates include Hindi साईस (sāīs), Malay sais, Indonesian sais, Swahili saisi, Turkish seyis.
