scanout (uncountable)

  1. (computer graphics) The conversion of image data in computer memory to a series of lines for output to a raster display.

      A video processor outputs one scan line at a time in synchrony with the TV raster scanout.
    • 1996, James D. Foley, Andries Van Dam, Computer Graphics: Principles and Practice, page 858:
      A partial solution, suitable for low-resolution displays, is to place the frame buffer on an isolated bus. This allows video scanout to occur simultaneously with CPU operations that do not affect the frame buffer.
