Etymology
[edit]Borrowed from Italiote Ancient Greek ζάπλουτος (záploutos, “very rich”), for δια- (dia-) + πλοῦτος (ploûtos). Attested once in this use in Petronius' Satyricon, and as a name in inscriptions. Said to have been current in Italian Greek dialects.
