    • 8 CE, Ovid, Fasti 6.539–540:
      vix illam subitō possēs cognōscere, tantō
      sānctior et tantō, quam modō, maior erat.
      Suddenly, hardly would you be able to recognize her, so much more venerable, so much greater, than she was before.
      (The goddess is Carmentis or Carmenta.)
