sahut

Indonesian
[edit]Etymology
[edit]Apparently from Proto-Malayo-Polynesian *saʀut (“answer, reply”), though likely via a borrowing from another language, due to the irregular sound correspondence of PMP *ʀ > h rather than the expected r. Compare Tagalog sagót (“reply”).
