Inherited from Ottoman Turkish صرت صرته (ṣırt ṣırta),[1][2] from صرت (ṣırt),[3] equivalent to sırt (back (of humans, animals), the dorsum; ridge) +‎ sırt +‎ -a (dative suffix).
