[edit]Inherited from Sanskrit *स्तिन्त (stinta, “wet”) + Middle Indo-Aryan -𑀓- (-ka-), from स्तिम् (stim). Cognate with Punjabi ਥਿੰਦਾ (thindā, “greasy”).
