sätta sig in (present sätter sig in, preterite satte sig in, supine satt sig in, imperative sätt sig in)

  1. to study something in order to familiarize oneself with it; to acquaint oneself with something
    Jag måste sätta mig in i hur systemen kommunicerar
    I need to acquaint myself with how the systems communicate
    Har du satt dig in i brottsmålet?
    Have you familiarized yourself with the criminal case?
  2. to imagine what something is like for someone else; to put oneself in someone's shoes
    Jag kan sätta mig in i hans situation
    I can imagine what it's like to be in his situation
