[edit]Borrowed from Old French reubarbe, from Late Latin reubarbarum, probably from Koine Greek ῥῆον βάρβαρον (rhêon bárbaron), from Ancient Greek ῥῆον (rhêon, “rhubarb”) + βάρβαρον (bárbaron), neuter of βάρβαρος (bárbaros, “foreign; barbaric”).
