[edit]Borrowed from dialectal Russian россол (rossol) (standard Russian рассол (rassol, “brine”)). How the Finnish meaning developed is not certain.

- A cold salad made with cooked cubed carrot, beet and pickle as main ingredients, often also apple, onion, boiled egg and pickled herring, served with spiced whipped cream.
