rollway (plural rollways)

1. An inclined slope or chute prepared for rolling logs into a stream or into a mill.
2. (rare) A series of cylindrical metal rolls placed between two rails and spaced apart, used to convey materials along a production line.
   • 1917, “Equipment for Expediting Shell-Forging”, in The Iron Age, 100 (4): 187:

     Ingots that fully pass inspection are moved along the rollway to a point opposite to which they are to be piled, and then piled by means of a small magnet on an air hoist carried by a movable wall jib crane.
