Ido
[edit]Etymology
[edit]From ridar (“to laugh”) + -et-.
Pronunciation
[edit]Verb
[edit]ridetar (present tense ridetas, past tense ridetis, future tense ridetos, imperative ridetez, conditional ridetus)
- (intransitive) to smile, smirk, snigger
Usage notes
[edit]Because of the somewhat ambiguous creation of "ridetar" (lit. a small laugh), some speakers have suggested *smailar as a replacement (from English smile), but this has yet to gain wide spread usage.
