Etymology

[edit]

Usually seen as a derivative of reseña +‎ -ar;[1] alternatively, it may correspond to Latin resignāre,[2][3][4] with the noun instead being the derivative. Compare Portuguese resenhar (to review). Cf. also resignar (to resign), which may be a borrowed doublet.
