[edit]Etymology
[edit]Inherited from Latin rapidus. The ending of -e was probably a later change in declension within Romanian, though some have tried to explain it with a Latin root *rapidis (only a rarely used regional western Transylvanian variant, rapăd, kept the original form). Doublet of rapid.
