  1. (grammar) A grammatical construction in which the object of a clause is stated to be in the possession of the subject.

  • In English, reflexive possession is usually conveyed only for clarification or emphasis, by using the word own after a pronoun that refers to the subject (e.g. her own). In some other languages, expression of reflexive possession may be automatic and obligatory.
