[edit]From Proto-Albanian *raðā, from Proto-Indo-European *Hreh₁dʰ- (“to arrange”), whence Old Norse ráða, German raten (“to advise; guess”). Alternatively related to rreth (“wheel”), close to Proto-Germanic *raðo (“row”) (compare Old Norse rǫð (“row”), Middle Low German gerade (“growing straight upwards”)), also connected to *rathan (“wheel”).[1]
