qumbara
Appearance
Azerbaijani
[edit]Etymology
[edit]Ultimately from Persian خمباره (xombâra) (compare modern Persian خمپاره (xompâre)); probably via Ottoman Turkish خمبره (humbara, kumbara).
The athletic sense is probably a more recent semantic loan from Russian ядро́ (jadró).
