qualify out (third-person singular simple present qualifies out, present participle qualifying out, simple past and past participle qualified out)

  1. (intransitive, sports) To be removed from a competition by not qualifying.
    He qualified out before the Olympics even started.
  2. (transitive, business, of potential customers) To disqualify (someone) from focus by a salesperson because they are unlikely to buy.
    Don't qualify out too many people, or you'll lose potential sales.
