From Ottoman Turkish كمر (kemer, belt, girdle; arch, vault), from Persian کمر (kamar, belt, girdle), from Middle Persian 𐫞𐫖𐫡 (qmr /⁠kamar⁠/, vault), ultimately from Proto-Iranian *kamarā- (something curved).[1]
