Borrowed from Ukrainian пи́санка (pýsanka), from писа́ти (pysáty, to write), referring to writing on an egg with a stylus in a wax-resist dyeing process, from Proto-Slavic *pьsati, related to *pьstrъ (feathered), + feminine ending -ка (-ka).
