From Proto-Khasian *ɲi, likely from Proto-Austroasiatic *rt1ah. Cognate with Khmer រន្ទះ (rŭəntĕəh, lightning, thunderbolt), Mon လတး (lightning strikes) and with Kuy /nthàːh/.[1]
