pusbrolis

From Wiktionary, the free dictionary

Lithuanian

[edit]

Etymology

[edit]

pùsė +‎ brólis, literally half-brother; however, the Lithuanian refers to what in English is called a "cousin" and not a "half-brother".

This etymology is missing or incomplete. Please add to it, or discuss it at the Etymology scriptorium.
Particularly: “What is the Lithuanian translation for English "half-brother"? It seems to also be pùsbrolis; in that case, it appears Lithuanian doesn't distinguish between male cousins and half-brothers. OTOH, female cousins and half-sisters might be distinguished.”
