1. (medicine, dated) One who studies mental illness.
   • 1856, The Law Library, volume 92:

     Of late years the opinion has been gaining ground among the best psychopathists, that, with few exceptions, the embarrassment of the intellect is secondary to, and consequent upon the disorder and perversion of the emotive faculties.
