[edit]Uncertain; one possible derivation, based on the attested longer form pꜣ-zꜣ-n-mṯk, is p(ꜣ) (“the”) + z(ꜣ) (“man”) + n(j) (“of”) + mṯk (“the Libyan deity Meṯek”), thus ‘the man of Meṯek’.
