provola

From Wiktionary, the free dictionary

Italian

[edit]

Etymology

[edit]

From provare[1] or from Medieval Latin probula (compare Latin būbalus (buffalo)). Far from old central Italian linguistic theories, perhaps it would be more practical to reason about the Italianization of the Sicilian term prùvula.

Noun

[edit]

provola f (plural provole)

  1. (regional) Synonym of scamorza: scamorza (an unfermented cow's-milk cheese from southern Italy)
