[edit]

Etymology

[edit]

Together with proseqe (chips, chippings (from a pruned tree)), a Slavic loanword from Proto-Slavic *prosěkъ (kind of axe; opening, cutting (in a forest)). Compare Bulgarian просек (prosek), Serbo-Croatian prosijek.[1]

The meaning presented in Albanian is not attested in South Slavic; a development has occurred from 'section, something cut out'.
