[edit]Borrowed from Old Church Slavonic праздьникъ (prazdĭnikŭ), from праздьнъ (prazdĭnŭ) + -икъ (-ikŭ), from Proto-Slavic *porzdьnъ;[1] compare Serbo-Croatian praznik, Ukrainian празник (praznyk).
