prædator (plural prædators)

  1. Obsolete spelling of predator.
    • 1856, William Henry Smyth, Descriptive Catalogue of a Cabinet of Roman Family Coins, page 41:
A temple of four columns, ascending the steps of which is a veiled and togated Roman, bearing a trophy : this evidently alludes to Marcellus’s having slain the King of the Gauls, Britomart ( Viridomarus? ), with his own hand, and thereupon he vowed to dedicate the spolia opima to Jupiter Feretrius—the prædator.
