A male given name of historical usage, notably borne by Pepi I Meryre, Pepi II Neferkare, and Pepi III, pharaohs of the Sixth and Sixteenth Dynasty

Some authors read the signs of this name in a different order, as pjpj. However, attested writings of the name as

in vertical script and

in horizontal script strongly argue against such a reading, whereas no instances of the spelling *

, which might be expected for the reading pjpj, have been found.
