[edit]Etymology
[edit]Proposed by entomologist Brian R. Stuckenberg in 1999 due to disputes about the homology of the structure formerly known as the first flagellomere or third segment of the antenna.

- (entomology) The third segment of the antenna of a fly, distal to the pedicel.
- 2012 December 5, Wayne N. Mathis, Tadeusz Zatwarnicki, “A revision of the New World species of Gymnoclasiopa Hendel (Diptera: Ephydridae)”, in ZooKeys, volume 248, , pages 1–69:
- ...at least the multisegmented arista is beyond the pedicel in addition to the large antennomere, and postpedicel is thus ambiguous and lacking in precision.
- 2015 July 27, Miroslav Barták, Štěpán Kubík, “Palaearctic species of Rhamphomyia (Pararhamphomyia) anfractuosa group (Diptera, Empididae)”, in ZooKeys[1], :
- Antenna black, scape brown, pedicel and extreme base of postpedicel brownish-yellow, length of antennal segments = 13: 10: 40: 17, setae on basal two segments nearly 0.12 mm long.
