Romanian
[edit]Etymology
[edit]From popor + -an, or possibly from a Vulgar Latin populānus, from Latin populus (compare Italian popolano). Alternatively, an early borrowing from the Italian. However, it has been attested since the early 17th century and may be a popular or hereditary term.
