[edit]Coined by Icelandic comedian and mayor of Reykjavík Jón Gnarr in 2002 (in his novel Plebbabókin, Literally, “The Book of Plebs”). The word is from Latin plēbs (“plebeians, common people”), the lower class in Ancient Rome.
