1. (transitive) To explain by, or accommodate to, the Platonic philosophy.
   • 1791, William Enfield, Johann Jakob Brucker, The History of Philosophy:

     Either Plato philonized, or Philo platonized

2. (intransitive) To adopt the opinion of Plato or his followers.
   • 1794, Joseph Milner, The History of the Church of Christ:

     He platonizes , after the manner of Origen , in some parts of his writings ; yet he is cited by Athanasius as a witness of the Son's consubstantiality with the Father
