pink salt

  1. Any salt that is pink in color. Especially:
    1. (chemistry, dyeing) The double chlorides of (stannic) tin and ammonium, formerly much used as a mordant for madder and cochineal.
    2. Himalayan salt.
    3. Alaea salt, an unrefined Hawaiian sea salt used in cooking or in rituals.
    4. Curing salt, containing sodium nitrite and sodium chloride, used in the curing of meats.
