pimpeltje

From Wiktionary, the free dictionary

Dutch

[edit]

Etymology

[edit]

Along with the verb pimpel (to guzzle, drink), probably related to the first element of pimpelmees (tiny bird). It is unclear which word derived from the other, but in all likelihood both are ultimately imitative, similar to Swedish pimpla (to guzzle), French pompette (tipsy).
