[edit]- Not to be confused with peritoneal (which concerns certain organs or matter inside the abdomen), with peroneal (which concerns the lower leg) nor with perineal (which concerns the skin between the genitals and anus); the words can sound somewhat similar, especially in rapid speech such as during a doctor's dictation.
