Borrowed from Late Latin pentarchia, from Ancient Greek πενταρχίᾱ (pentarkhíā), from πεντα- (penta-, penta-, five) + -αρχίᾱ (-arkhíā, -archy, rule). By surface analysis, penta- +‎ -archia.
