Etymology

Inherited from Proto-Slavic *pěkrъ, from Proto-Indo-European *peh₂ḱ- (to fasten, place).[1] Cognate with Gothic 𐍆𐌰𐌲𐍂𐍃 (fagrs). Compare Czech pěkný and Polish piękny.
