- a Sicilian dish of pasta served with a sauce containing sardines, anchovies, fennel, raisins, pine nuts and saffron
- Supposedly "pasta con le sarde a mare" (pasta with the sardines at sea) is the same dish without the sardines or any expensive ingredient
