  1. (biology, medicine) Inflammation of many serosae (serous membranes), throughout the body, as a component of a systemic disease process, such as Kawasaki disease, MIS-C, or MIS-A (Multisystem Inflammatory Syndrome in Adults); thus, vasculitides, polyarthritides, and pericarditis are involved.
