    • 1856 February, "Thorney's Tiffin-Party", The Panorama of Life and Literature, Vol. II, No. 8, p. 188:
      I pick up my friend Nicholas—who is station-staff at Mangrowlee, and acting-adjutant to the regiment besides—and whisk him off in my palkee-garry, drawn by two Burmah ponies, to Thorney's hospitable mansion, overhanging the river.
