Ingrian
[edit]Etymology
[edit]According to Oja (2002), borrowed from Ludian pövü or Veps pövu, ultimately from the same source as Proto-Finnic *pëllavas.
There are, however, no other known loans from Veps or Ludic into Ingrian, which suggests a common (substratal) origin instead.
