1. (transitive) To make more neutral than required or expected, or (chemistry) beyond the neutral pH value.
   • 1948, Laurence V. Burton, Week-end Painter, page 175:

     If you will overneutralize the colors in the background and increase the Chroma of the colors in the foreground, you will discover that depth will begin to come into your picture.
