[edit]- Wesley Maier Stover, Observations Upon the Grammatical Structure and Use of the Umbundu (1885): if special attention is called to the locality of the subject, ovava mwapwa, the water (in a vessel) is all gone. In this instance, if no special attention were called to the locality of the water, the regular pronominal prefix of Class 6 would be used : ovava (v)apwa; the v generally dropping.
