[edit]

osa (part) +‎ eläke (pension)

Pronunciation

  • IPA(key): /ˈosɑˌelækeˣ/, [ˈo̞s̠ɑ̝ˌe̞læk̟e̞(ʔ)]
  • Rhymes: -elæke
  • Syllabification(key): o‧sa‧e‧lä‧ke

Noun

[edit]

osaeläke

  1. partial pension

Usage notes

[edit]
  • In Finland osaeläke refers to a disability pension (työkyvyttömyyseläke) that is granted at less than the full amount because the beneficiary's condition allows for part-time work. It is not the same as osa-aikaeläke (part-time pension) which may be granted to an elderly person just based on one's age when it's high enough but less than the retirement age. In other countries the term "partial pension" may mean different things. For example in Australia partial pension may be paid to a person who works past his/her retirement age.
