[edit]Etymology
[edit]Borrowed from French orgie, which explains the accentuation on -í-, from Latin orgia, from Ancient Greek ὄργια (órgia). According to Coromines and Pascual, first attested circa 1830, aside from an odd occurrence in Juan Boscán Almogáver (16th c.). The variant órgia is attested in writers aware of the accentuation in Latin and Greek, but the form borrowed via French has prevailed in common usage.
