ordinary magisterium (usually uncountable, plural ordinary magisteria)

  1. That part of the teaching authority of the Roman Catholic Church (or of the pope, bishops, etc.) which does not derive from ecumenical councils or ex cathedra pronouncements (collectively called solemn judgements and comprising the extraordinary magisterium).
