oppignoration (usually uncountable, plural oppignorations)

  1. (obsolete) The act of pawning or laying in pledge.
    • 1843, The Library of Anglo-Catholic Theology:
      Especially seeing there is no direct contestation used, but rather by way of oppignoration, engaging unto God our salvation, faith, rejoicing, part in His Gospel and promises, the contents, &c. if we utter an untruth.
