onychodermal band (plural onychodermal bands)

  1. (anatomy) A fine, pallid, translucent band at the junction of the distal nail bed and hyponychium.
    • 2012, Robert Baran, Baran and Dawber's Diseases of the Nails and their Management:
      Pressure using the point of a pencil on the nail plate applied over the lunula will blanch all but the distal pink band of the onychodermal band.
